7:1 바빌론의 벨사살왕 원년에 다니엘이 자기 침상에서 한 꿈을 꾸고 머릿속에 환상들을 받고서 그가 그 꿈을 기록하고 그 일들의 실상을 말하니라. In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.

7:2 다니엘이 고하여 말하였더라. 내가 밤에 환상을 보았는데, 보라, 하늘의 네 바람이 큰 바다로 불어 닥치더니 Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.

7:3 큰 짐승들 넷이 그 바다에서 올라오는데 서로 다르더라. And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.

7:4 첫째는 사자 같고 독수리의 날개가 있는데, 내가 보니 그 날개가 뽑혔고 또 땅에서 들려서 사람처럼 발로 서 있게 되었으며, 또 사람의 마음을 받았더라. The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.

7:5 또 다른 짐승을 보니, 둘째는 곰과 같고 그것이 몸 한쪽 편을 들어올렸는데, 그 입의 잇사이에 갈비뼈 세 대가 물려 있으며 그들이 그 짐승에게 이렇게 말하기를 “일어나서 많은 고기를 먹으라.” 하더라. And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

7:6 이 일 후에 내가 보았더니, 보라, 또 하나는 표범과 같은데, 그 등에는 새의 날개 넷이 있고 그 짐승은 머리도 네 개가 있으며 권세를 받았더라. After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.

7:7 이 일 후에 내가 밤에 환상들을 보았고 넷째 짐승을 보았는데, 두렵고 무서우며 힘이 매우 세고 또 철로 된 큰 이빨을 가졌더라. 그 짐승이 먹고 산산이 부수며 그 나머지는 발로 밟더라.

그 짐승은 먼저 있었던 모든 짐승들과 다르며 또 그 짐승은 열 뿔을 가졌더라. After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

7:8 내가 그 뿔들을 살펴보았더니, 보라, 그것들 가운데서 또 다른 작은 뿔이 나오더니, 먼저 나온 뿔 세 개가 그 앞에서 뿌리째 뽑혔더라. 또 보라, 이 뿔에는 사람의 눈 같은 눈이 있고 또 큰 일들을 말하는 입이 있더라. I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

7:9 내가 보았더니 보좌들이 넘어져 있고, 옛날부터 계신 분이 앉으셨는데, 그분의 옷은 눈같이 희고 그분의 머리털은 순전한 양모 같더라. 그분의 보좌는 불타는 불꽃 같고 그 바퀴들은 타는 불 같더라. I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

7:10 불 같은 강이 흘러 그분 앞에서 나오니 수백만 명이 그분을 섬기고 수천만 명이 그분 앞에 섰는데, 심판이 준비되었고 그 책들이 펼쳐졌더라. A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

마지막 교황의 멸망

7:11 그 뿔이 말한 큰 말의 음성 때문에 그 때 내가 보았더니, 그 짐승이 죽임을 당하고 그의 몸이 파멸되며 타는 불꽃에 던져지는 것을 내가 보았노라. I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.

7:12 그 짐승들의 나머지에 관해서도 마찬가지로 그들이 그들의 권세는 빼앗겼으나 그들의 생명은 한 시기와 때 동안 연장되었더라. As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.

7:13 내가 밤에 환상들을 보았더니, 보라, 인자 같은 분이 하늘의 구름들과 함께 오셔서 옛날부터 계신 분께로 오시니 그들이 인자 같은 분을 그분 앞에 안내하였더라. I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

7:14 거기에서 그분께 통치권과 영광과 왕국이 주어졌으니, 이는 모든 백성과 민족들과 언어들로 그분을 섬기게 하려 함이더라. 그분의 통치권은 사라지지 않을 영원한 통치권이며 그분의 왕국은 멸망하지 않으리라. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

7:15 나 다니엘이 내 몸 가운데 있는 내 영 안에서 슬퍼하였고 내 머리의 환상들이 나를 괴롭게 하였기에 I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.

7:16 내가 곁에 서 있는 그들 중 한 사람에게 다가가서 이 모든 일의 진리를 그에게 물었더니 그가 나에게 말하여 그 일들의 해석을 내게 알려 주더라. I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.

7:17 이 커다란 네 짐승은 땅에서 일어날 네 왕이라. These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.

7:18 그러나 지극히 높으신 분의 성도들이 그 왕국을 얻으리니, 영원하고 영원무궁한 그 왕국을 차지하리라. But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.

7:19 그때 내가 그 넷째 짐승에 대한 진리를 알고자 하였으니, 그 짐승은 다른 모든 짐승들과 달라서 심히 무서우며 그의 이는 철이고 그의 발톱은 놋이요 그는 먹어 삼키고 산산이 부수며 나머지는 그의 발로 밟으며 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;

7:20 또 그의 머리에는 열 개의 뿔이 있고 또 다른 뿔이 나오니 그 앞에서 세 뿔이 떨어져 나갔으며 그 뿔에는 눈들도 있고 매우 큰 일을 말하는 입도 있으니 그의 모양이 그의 동류들보다 더 강하게 보이더라. And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.

7:21 내가 보니 이 뿔이 성도들과 싸워 그들을 이기더라. I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;

7:22 옛날부터 계신 분이 오시니 지극히 높으신 분의 성도들에게 심판이 주어졌고 그 때가 이르자 성도들이 그 왕국을 차지하더라. Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.

7:23 그러므로 그분께서 말씀하시기를 “넷째 짐승은 땅 위의 넷째 왕국이 되리니 그것은 모든 왕국들과 달라서 온 세상을 집어삼키고 밟아서 산산조각을 낼 것이라. Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.

7:24 이 왕국에서 나온 열 뿔은 장차 일어날 열 왕이며 또 하나가 그들 뒤에 일어나리라. 그는 먼저 있던 자들과는 다르며 그가 세 왕들을 복종시킬 것이라. And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.

7:25 그가 지극히 높으신 분을 대항하여 큰 말을 하며 또 지극히 높으신 분의 성도들을 지치게 할 것이고 또 때와 법을 변경시키려고 생각할 것이라. 그들은 그의 손에 주어져서 한 때와 두 때와 반 때를 지내리라. And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

7:26 그러나 그 심판이 시작되리니 그들이 그의 권세를 빼앗아서 끝까지 그것을 소멸하고 멸망시키리라. But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.

7:27 그 왕국과 권세와 온 하늘 아래 왕국의 위대함이 지극히 높으신 분의 성도들의 백성에게 주어지리니, 그 왕국은 영원한 왕국이며 모든 권세들이 그분을 섬기고 복종하리라.” 하시더라. And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

7:28 여기까지가 그 일의 끝이라. 나 다니엘로 말하자면, 내 생각이 나를 몹시 번민케 하였으며 내 용모가 변하였으나 내가 그 일을 내 마음속에 간직하였노라. Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.
